Vietnam Airline Lounges

HCMC, Vietnam

Airport lounges tells a story about the place where one lands; these lounges illustrates a scene from Saigon’s history through the local fabrics and patterns.

Vertical Studio was awarded 3 major international lounges each around 300-400 sq meter at the Tan Son International Airport. The challenge of designing and building the lounges in the airport was to respect the technical issues and strict building policies of the space, and to work with existing MEP and structural constraints. For each lounge : Lotus, Bamboo and CIP Lounge the design reflected the local culture of Vietnam through fabrics, colors and local aesthetics, to give the travelers an experience of Vietnam through the distinctive and inspirational details of the seating (shaped as Hoi An traditional houses), the black lacquered lotus flower encrypted in gold behind glass wall of buffet area, the use of local patterns in the screens, and the playful mixture of blue tones in the ceramic tiles made locally all contributed to the vibrancy of Vietnam iconic cities. The design also provided different types of seating from private booths to open tables for families to eat as well as lounge relax armchairs to rest, and also a business area to work while traveling, it was diverse in function but with strong Modern Asian fusion of Vietnamese style.
