Reviving the Indochina charm of the old Saigon through the details and artwork.

Oakwood Residence is a mid-rise service apartment set in historic small alley of city center, famous for its old French Classical style of architecture, the design of the interior reflects the Indochina culture in the 70’s. Upon arrival to the lobby, the aim of the interior design was to bring new life into existing building, enhancing the history of the building and space by decorating walls with old window shutters used in traditional french colonial homes, and large lamps as hanging chandeliers, and the main feature of the full height black and white screen on the mezzanine level illustrating an old scene of Saigon social street scene with bicycles (the artwork is seen from the double height main bar area on ground level) all these detail elements contribute to honor this time in history. Vertical Studio designed and built this rennovation project with contractor carefully respecting the existing conditions of the old building, giving the residents a lobby with bar restaurant that reflects creative Indochina times of Saigon.
